I really wanted this weeks tutorial for the 52 Blocks Quilt Along to be ‘heart’ related in honor of Valentine’s Day on Friday. I’ll admit – I didn’t really ‘twist’ the Card Trick Block much…if at all. This is mostly about the color choices you make so that you can really ‘see’ something different than what you would normally ‘see’. Today – we’re going to ‘see’ four entwined hearts in our block the ‘Heart Trick’.
Heart Trick Block Tutorial for
52 Twisted Traditional Block Quilt Along
Finished Block Size – 12” x 12”
For this block tutorial I twisted the traditional ‘Card Trick’ but mostly it’s because of my color choices. By using pinks and reds I put focus on the ‘four entwined hearts’ that I see in this block.
And here you have the Heart Trick – four entwined hearts! You can purchase a downloadable PDF pattern of this block HERE for a small fee.

How do you think I did? Can you still see the four hearts when I change it to black and white?
BONUS!
Remember the six half square triangles you set aside? Let’s use those an make a wonderful rectangular pillow!
I sewed my 6 triangles together into 3 square sets and then squared them up to 4.5”. Then, I sewed them in row and added them to one side of my ‘Heart Trick Block’.
I did some straight line quilting on my now 12” x 16” block to make this fun Valentine inspired pillow!

Beautiful! I had to turn my head to see all four hearts but they turned out so beautifully! I still need to pick a block! Oh dear!
