NonStop

I´m Gun from Sweden. I love sweets and couldn´t resist this challenge 🙂 I was inspired by the candy NonStop. The hexies are all hand pieced and every side of the basket measures 5.5" x 4". I named my little basket "NonStop" (of course)! —

(18) The Stylish Home

Gingerbread Off Season House

The front of the "Gingerbread Off Season" House. My kids love playing in their play kitchen and helping fix things 🙂 Read more about this piece HERE.  —

Icky Sticky Yummy Gummy

Finished size: 45×65

I colored in grid squares in power point to make the design and went from there! calmandcarrion.blogspot.com/2014/02/an-oh-so-sweet-step-o… —

Christmas Candy

Christmas Candy is the name of my piece, made this week in Tucson, AZ. Peppermint candies and candy canes are imprinted upon my brain when I think of Christmas. I wanted these pieces to coordinate so that they are a set and will be for sale in our benefit boutique this Dec. —

Good and Plenty

Challenge: Sweet Treats Inspiration: Good N Plenty. Yes, I have a licorice theme going this week. Spud 3 was a big help on getting the whole thing to look like the candy box. The quilt measures 42 x 68 inches. It is made from quilter’s cotton and is raw edge appliqued. It is quilted with a loose stipple everywhere but on the candies. I quilt near St Louis, MO More details on my blog. twasbrilligand.blogspot.com/2014/02/pq-53-challenge-sweet… —

Sweet Knot Dress

My candy inspirations were Jolly Ranchers for the colours, and Sweethearts for the appliqué shape. My “quilt” was actually a toddler dress. This was my first time sewing an article of clothing, which meant that it was my first time using a gathering stitch, making button holes, and paying really close attention to the pattern and directions. The sewing was much easier than I anticipated. (Which was good, considering that life had other plans than letting me sew this week.) I struggled a bit with trying to figure out how to make it a “quilt” without losing the simplicity of the dress, and still keeping the candy theme. I’m very happy with how it turned out. It’s a size 18months. Since i have to give it a title, I’m calling it Sweet Knot Dress. Made in Ontario, Canada. —

(23) Lucky Duck Dreams

title: Candy Dreams: Red Wax Lips & Pixie Stix, Rock candy Dreams

design: original by Colleen Charlotte Yarnell
size: 35" x 35"
Location: Lewisville, NC
Challenge: Project quilting season 5, challenge 3, Sweet Treats
Inspiration: Pixie Stix! It was what popped into my head. I remembered all the times when I visited my Grandma in Jacobus, PA. We would walk a couple blocks up the road to the small grocery and she would buy me a bag of pixie stix. Rock Candy and candy buttons I would buy on special trips. Red wax lips was inspired by the song title Wax Lips & Pixie Stix I found on itunes. I use to buy them at the Wawa near my home. I saw all these favorites swirling in my head. I just had to figure out how to get them out and into fabric. blogged cyarnell.blogspot.com/2014/02/project-quilting-challenge-… —

Conversation Hearts

42"X55"
Created in Muskegon, MI I was inspired by Conversation Hearts and thought it would be fun to make a quilt with hearts on it. VERY seasonal! Some pieced blocks and some hand embroidered blocks. LOTS of black – to make the hearts look like they are scattered, just like when you spill the bag to find the sayings you want! This quilt will be given to a local charity to bless someone. shout4joy-shouting.blogspot.com/2014/02/done-conversation… —

(25) Sweet Boater Chick

Hard Candy Mini Quilt

I took the color idea from this weeks challenge of Sweet Treats and ran with it. This was a fun way to play with all solids, which I almost never do. I pulled a bunch of bright fun colors from my stash and cut 2.5 inch strips off each. Then I cut the strips into equilateral triangles, laid them out and fused them to some pellon. I was experimenting with how the triangles would turn out with the fusing method. FYI… the points don’t come out perfect, but it gives a different look to them and I really think it fits the feel like the candies are in a big box all mixed together. I added a few borders and then quilted in the ditch. So bright and fun to help with these winter blues that are lasting far too long. Hard Candy Mini Quilt measures 15.5" x 18.5" and was created in Lanoka Harbor, NJ. sweetboaterchick.blogspot.com/2014/02/project-quilting-ch… —

Diane Lapacek

Since Diane is the challenge giver she’s not allowed to win any of the prizes…but I still want to show off her piece….

Jelly Beans and Lollipops

My first plan was to use jelly beans as inspiration for a simple table topper. I made the background of this piece using "jelly bean" colors put together free style. I made it into an octagon shape, but felt it needed more. I found lots of satin ribbons during the upcycle challenge, but they didn’t really qualify since they were new. Here was my chance to use some of them. I braided them together then stitched them down to form lollipops. I added stems and leaves to finish the project. finished size 16" x 16"
Created by Diane Lapacek in Poynette, WI. PS.  Diane’s husband, Frank, is notorious for ALWAYS having jelly beans on him!  My girls’ always know who to go to when they want a sweet treat!
