Since next week will be filled with ‘Closer Look’ Posts about the current Project QUITING Challenge (you still have time to join in the fun, by the way!) AND since I actually managed to FINISH my January goal I figured I post it on here right away.
My January goal was to finish the 8 remaining blocks of Bungalow Quilting and Yarn’s 2013 Paper Piecing Fairy Tale Block of the Month Quilt Along. I had the four shown above already done when the month started. Now, when I made this goal I may have forgotten about all the other projects I HAD to do this month because of deadlines. My thinking as the time was getting tighter was that I wasn’t going to be that dumb the next month. Instead I’d make a goal of something I had to do anyway. But then I kept thinking about it and if I hadn’t set this as my goal this month there is no way I would have finished these blocks! They would have just stayed in my ‘to do’ pile indefinitely. So, I’m gong to make a goal on top of my goal each month. I have to choose a goal that is not something that is DUE or HAS to be done that particular month anyway. My goal has to be something extra that I would probably just set aside to do ‘when I have time’.
Even with everything going on – I managed to finish my goal of the 12 BOM blocks. Woot!
I think all the blocks are fun and whimsical but I’m super happy with how my witch turned out! The print on the green fabric I used for her face just happened to fall in the perfect spots! I used Halloween printed fabric for my black cat which added just that extra bit of interest. She’s scary and fabulous!
What am I going to do with these blocks? Well – I’m adding them to the Aurifil 2013 Block of the Month Blocks I made last year. I’m not quite ready to piece them all together yet though. I discovered that the designer of these blocks, Bubble and Stitch, also has a 3 bowls block, a 3 bed block, and Snow White didn’t just have one dwarf – she had SEVEN…so I’m pretty sure I’m going to making six more dwarf’s. Hmmm…I may have just figured out my February goal….
