Project QUILTING–November Off Season Challenge: Color MERCEDI

November 2, 2013 by persimondreams 1 Comment

Happy November everyone!  November means a few things around my place…our orchard is slowing down, I can create again, and my oldest daughter, Mercedi turns SEVEN!  I can’t believe my little babe is going to be SEVEN this month!

In honor of her birthday we’re going to be inspired by the letters in her name: MERCEDI for this challenge.

The Challenge ‘Color MERCEDI’

The color scheme of your quilt will be determined using the letters in MERCEDI.  You must use at least 3 colors for your quilt but can use up to 7.  Each color must start with one of the letters in the name MERCEDI.  For example… (and feel free to use these colors too…)

M…Marigold

E… Evergreen

R… Red

C…Cyan

E… Electric Blue

D… Diamond White

I… Indigo

I could use either three of these colors, four, five, six, OR seven.  No more than seven and no less than three.  No other colors can be added to your quilted piece.  Feel free to come up with your own colors as long as one starts with the letter M, one the letter R, one the letter C, one the letter D, one the letter I and two the letter E.

THE RULES:

(Please read (or reread) Rule 5…it’s really important!!!!)

  1. Have FUN! These off season challenges aren’t about winning a prize – they’re about being inspired to create something you may never have created without the inspiration.
  2. Please remember that these projects need to be created during the time frame of the challenge to qualify for the challenge.
  3. Project can be a quilt, a garment, a bag, or any other item that is created using patchwork, appliqué or other traditional quilting techniques.
  4. If you need advice/tips/help (or you just want to give us all a sneak peak) with your project as you work on it feel free to post pictures to the flickr group: Project QUILTING WIP:  http://www.flickr.com/groups/1430386@N24/
  5. POST your entries with a description of your creative process, including where you are (ie, I create in Madison, WI) and the size of your project by the end of the day December 2nd, 2013 December 9th, 2013 to this flickr group –http://www.flickr.com/groups/1401824@N21/ OR email a picture/description of your completed project to {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line and I’ll post your piece for you. (1 month to finish the challenge)
