GIVEAWAY!
I’m very excited to introduce you all to an incredibly talented, inspirational artists who wanted to support Project QUILTING this season – Annie Young Arts. Annie Young is a topographical artist. She paints from her memories and feelings since she went blind a few years ago. I saw her work and I was instantly in love with it – and then I heard her story and when I see her work it gives me inspiration that I can create – even if I’m only given a week…
I would recommend watching this short video and hear how Annie describes herself and her work. She does much better than I am doing.
AND to top it all off – Annie wants to support Project QUILTING! She’s giving away multiple prints of her work throughout the Fourth Season of Project QUILTING. This week is going to be your first chance at one and it will be easy for you to enter! If you win, Annie is letting you choose from one of the prints below and she will send you an 11.x17 of it.
From left to right: Soul Sister, The Cross Roads, Celebrating Cindy, Growing Love, Rugeyes, Big Love, Confetti Susan, I Love You T-H-I-S Much, The Blooming Field of Love and Joy, Princess Zoe.
How to WIN
There is a two step process that is REQUIRED to win a print.
FIRST – got to Annie’s blog and become a follower: http://www.annieyoungarts.blogspot.com/
SECOND – leave a comment below telling me that you’re a follower and which is your personal favorite project quilting piece this week. They may be easier to look at in the flickr group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1401824@N21/
Good luck! The contest closes on Friday, January 18th. I’ll post the winner on Saturday, January 19th.
Plan for the next Week
Here’s my plan for the upcoming week. Tomorrow, Monday, January 14th I’ll be posting the winners of the random drawing. Tuesday – the ‘My Favorite Block Quilt Along’ Begins (second block goes up on Thursday), and throughout the week I’ll be posting ‘Closer Looks’ of ALL the quilts submitted for the challenge. I may have more than one post per day to get them all in…but I hope you’ll enjoy it. The next Project QUILTING Challenge goes up at NOON CST next Sunday, January 20th.
Oh – and let’s have another linky party while we’re at it! Link up your blog posts on your FINISHED quitls! We want to know how you came up with your idea and how you finished in just a week!

My favorite quilt from this challenge is "Things aren't always the way they appear". I am a rainbow kinda girl, so it speaks to me. :]

I am following Annie's blog now and can't wait to read more up on her-she is an amazing person!
I had a really hard time choosing my favorite project from this week but I think my favorite is the One ANothers quilt. The colors are so nice, the quilt is beautiful overall, and I love the hand written scriptures.

I am now a follower of her site, and I have two favourites, the Bubblegum Squaredance quilt and the Fifty and Fabulous pillow case, love the colours and techniques on both 🙂

I am blown away by the number of entries and the creativity in this challenge!!! it's incredible! And to choose ONE favorite????? Yikes! That's nearly impossible! I guess Church Squares would be my first choice. But there are SO many others that I love too!
Also, thank you SO much for the link to Annie Young. What an incredible story and testimony and a real encouragement to me as I have been having my own vision struggles and am at high risk for a torn retina (leading to blindness). My biggest fear of losing my sight…not seeing my grandchildren and not seeing my creations. What courage she has and what an encouragement her story is! THANK YOU!

I am a follower of Annie! I love her art, and she is an inspiration. I will most likely share her video with my students in Interior Design next week too! My favorite Square in a Square is the Bubblegum squared. I like the use of brown with pink, and the way she positioned her squares on the quilt. Kept my eyes hopping, just like I do daily!

I'm following Annie's blog.
My favorite is Times Square, but it was a tough choice, wow that was a lot of great entries!!
Sandra Jantzi says
I am so inspired by Annie and her story of creativity amidst what most artists would consider disasterous. I am thankful for people like her. My favorite Project Quilting piece is "Rear Window-Rain". I like the simplicity of the piece as it iginites your imagination.
Tabatha says
I entered my block in all your flicker groups and your initial post but I don't see it entered in the first collage!!

I know you did! I'm pretty sure you're the 'blank' spot in the upper right. I'm guessing it some sort of setting on your flickr account that wouldn't let bighugelabs.com include the image in the photo. If you click on the first '9. How Many Squares' it takes you to your project.
