I can’t believe that the end is in sight for the 49 different Home Sweet Home QuiltSashings! I knew it was going to be an undertaking just making 49 different sashings but I have to say – posting the tutorials has been way more work than I thought it would be. I apologize that it’s taken me so long to finish the job. Alright – here goes the next one:
Sashing 32. Nine Patch Centered in Red
We’re going to make 2 sets 2 of nine patches for this sashing. It’s important that your Fabric 1 and Fabric 2’s are opposite of each other in value for each set of nine patches. A red fabric should be used for the centers.
First Set of 2 Nine Patch Fabric Requirements
Red – 1 1.5” x 3.5” strip Fabric 1 (lighter Green) – 2 – 1.5” x 3.5” strips AND 1 – 1.5” x 6.5” strip Fabric 2 (Dark Green) – 2 – 1.5” x 6.5” strips
Second Set of 2 Nine Patch Fabric Requirements
Red – 1 – 1.5” x 3.5” strip Fabric 1 (Darker Fabric) – 2 – 1.5” x 3.5” strips AND 1 – 1.5” x 6.5” strip Fabric 2 (Lighter Fabric) – 2 – 1.5” x 6.5” strips
Instructions
Follow these instructions when you make all four of your nine patches. Sew the two 3.5” strips of Fabric 1 to both sides of the Red Fabric. Iron towards Fabric 1. Sew the two 6.5” strips of Fabric 2 to both sides of the 6.5” strip of Fabric 1. Iron towards Fabric 2. Now – cut two 1.5” x 3.5″ strips from the first triple strip you made. Next – cut four 1.5” x 3.5” strips from the second triple strip you made. Next – with the red in the center sew the second two strips together to make a nine patch as shown in the picture above. Make 2 in this color way. Repeat the steps above so you have 2 nine patches in each set of fabric. Layout out your four nine patches so they alternate with lights and dark fabrics in the corners. Now sew them all together to make a strip! And there you have it – Sashing 32 – Nine Patch Centered in Red Sashing! You can see the Nine Patch Centered in Red Sashing to the left of Block 1, My Home.
