Home Sweet Home Sashing Tutorial True North Mini Tree (34)

For this next sashing tutorial in the Home Sweet Home Quilt Along. we’ll be using the template in the upper right of the Compass Tree PDF Pattern for Paper Piecing pdf.  It should measure 3.5” x 3.5” when you print it.

True North Mini Tree

For triangle (1):  Cut one ‘light’ 2.5” x 4”, cut one ‘dark’ 2.5” x 4”

For Triangle (2): Cut one ‘light’ 3” x 1.5”, cut one ‘dark’ 3” x 21.5”

For Triangle (3): Cut two blue fabrics – 4” x 2”

Trunk

1 – 2.75” x 1.5” in Brown

2 – 2.75” x 1.5” in Green

Grass

1 – 3.5” x 1.5” in green

Sky

1 – 3.5” x 5.75” in Blue

 

Follow the same theory making this ‘tree’ as you did in the True North Tree in the previous post.

Now we have our main ‘True North Mini Tree’ Piece.  The rest of this sashing goes together easily.

Take your brown trunk fabric and sew one strip of green fabric to either side.  Press toward the brown.  Sew this strip to the bottom of your true north tree.  Press towards the trunk strip.

Take the Grass strip and sew it to the bottom of the trunk.  Press towards the grass.

Finally take your ‘sky’ strip and sew to the top of the True North Mini Tree.  Press towards the sky.
