I was putting all my BOM’s into one post but since I haven’t gotten very far on any of them I think I’ll break them up into separate posts as they all come to their end.
Today I’m going to show you my progress on the Craftsy Block of the Month. I have 9 of the 10 months done…just October left and hopefully I’ll finish that up tomorrow (apple store is closed). I’ve really enjoyed this Block of the Month series. Each month a new technique has been introduced. I’ve tried things I’ve never tried before. Realized I enjoyed doing things I never thought I would (hexagons) and was really glad I only had to make two blocks with a certain method. Regardless of it all – in the end I’m going to have a gorgeous, unique sampler quilt that taught me a lot about quilting.
Cleopatra’s Puzzle Block
September was curved piecing. This was the month that I can’t tell you how grateful I was that I only had to make two blocks doing this. I was just not a fan – no matter how careful I pinned or how slow I sewed things were just not coming out very nicely. In the end, I’m happy with the blocks I do have but they are far from perfect or even well pieced. Lesson learned:
If curved piecing is involved either figure out how to appliqué it or don’t do that project!
Here is a mosaic tile of my first 18 blocks for this quilt along! I love tiling them like this because I can play with their arrangement at an easier scale. I use ‘Mosaic Maker’ option over at Big Huge Labs to do this.
Just a few more weeks and I’ll be back to sewing my normal amount! Any good quilt alongs coming up or just starting that I shouldn’t miss? Also – if you ever are looking for a block designer be sure to think of me!
