It’s time once again for the Blogger’s Quilt Festival, sponsored as always, by Amy from Amy’s Creative Side. I am so so so glad I happened to see Prairie Moon Quilts Tweet about this! I might have missed it and that would have been TERRIBLE! I love this festival – so many great quilts to look and and such talent all over! Please keep in my Quilt 138 when you nominate your favorites!
I knew right away that I wanted to show of my ‘Amazing Technicolor Dream Quilt’.
I made this quilt because of a scrap challenge and it’s one of those pieces that you make because of dream you have in your mind. I have those dreams often but they don’t always turn out the way I hope they will. This is one of those dreams that really did turn out! It was way more work than I thought it was going to be but it was so so so worth it!
Approximate Dimensions: 62″ x 76″
I really love how that the quilt looks totally different depending on which angle you look at it.
Every piece of this quilt came from my scrap bin. I used the ‘free form quilting method’ and it was machine quilted by Barb Raisbeck of Quilts by Barb. You can read more about how this quilt came to be HERE.
The festival starts today, and runs through November 9. It’s open to anyone who wants to enter, and there will be lots of great prizes. Be sure to check it out NOW! Get your post written and show off your quilt!
Nominations will be made November 1st through the 4th. My Amazing Technicolor Dream Quilt (Quilt 138) would be a wonderful fit Best in the following categories:
Favorite Throw Quilt
Favorite ROYGBIV Quilt
And/Or
Favorite Scrap Quilt
Thanks for all your support! I’m so excited that in just 3 days I’ll be back to the quilting and creating world! It’s bittersweet that our apple crop was terrible this year but the sweet part means I’ll be at my machine a month earlier than normal!
What a super cool quilt!
I can't wait until you have another colorful BOM QAL!
This is wonderful. I love that you incorporated a bunch of dark/muted/grayed down colors into your rainbow quilt rather than just using all brights. It gives such wonderful depth of color!
Ooooh, just love this! I really need to do something like this with my scraps. I live in the midst of hundreds of acres of fruit orchards. We don't grow fruit here but my folks did and my mom's family were involved in orcharding since early last century. Lots of work. I'm in central washington
Lovely scrap quilt! I've made over 50 6" blocks in a similar style, each one is one color of scraps. I love the colors in your quilt!
Wow! I am in awe of the work you put into this quilt! The layers of color are so rich; it's absolutely breathtaking. You go, girl!

File away! It's a great way to use scraps – although, I'll admit, my pile doesn't seem all that much smaller…
Thank you thank you!
Thanks for stopping by! Your christmas quilt is adorable!
Thanks so much for stopping by and looking! I so appreciate it!
Thanks! It was so fun to make! And it's always good to use up those scraps! Each scrap reminded me of the original quilt made from that fabric so it was a nice trip down memory lane too!
Thank you thank you! I so appreciate it!
Thanks! My only regret is that I should have stuck to just darker blues in the middle blue section. Note to self for the next one!
Me either! It was tons of fun!
Thank you! I appreciate your kind words 🙂
So cool to hear about your orchards. I was a city girl but when I was 5 I had a photo taken for the newspaper of me on my mom's shoulder's picking apples at an orchard. When we got married my aunt gave me a copy of the picture and article with a note saying I was destined to have an apple orchard – it was really cool 🙂
Love it!
Congrats on making the finals! It's is fantastic scrap quilt!
Stunning quilt!! You must have some stash 😉 I love scrappy quilts and colorful quilts; this is a wonderful blending of both. Congratulations on your quilt's nomination. Well deserved.
Congrats! I am in LOVE with your quilt! MADLY in love, it's so beautiful.
I love your use of colour in this quilt. It's one of those you can look at endlessly and not tire of the patterns created with the combinations of fabrics. Well done!
