Sew Intertwined Quilt Along with Sew Bittersweet Designs and Sew HappyGeek – Fabric from Spiceberry Cottage

August 1, 2012 by persimondreams 3 Comments

Sew Intertwined Quilt - Stockholm Fabrics by Robin Singone

A Quilt Along put on by Sew Bittersweet Designs and SewHappyGeek

Today I’m going to pick out some fabric from the Spice Berry Cottage – a great online fabric store that I initially discovered on etsy when I was looking for some particular fabrics.  I have continued to order from her and LOVE the quality of the fabric along with the quick delivery!  I’m going to do some ‘Virtual Windown Shopping’ in Spice Berry Cottage’s etsy shop tonight to find some fabrics that would look great in the ‘Sew Intertwined Quilt Along’ being put on by my friend Melissa of Sew Bittersweet Designs and SewHappyGeek.  I haven’t pulled fabric from my stash for this quilt along yet so I figured I’d do a little ‘Virtual Window Shopping’ for some inspiration.  I hope this gets your brain turning too and you decide to join in the quilt along fun!

Fabric Requirements –

Fabric 1: 2/3 yard (orange in image above)

A Walk In the Woods by Aneela Hoey Teeny Mushrooms Blue Bell, Moda Fabrics

Fabric 2: 2/3 yards (green in image above)

Michael Miller Fabric Ta Dot Sea Blue – Polka Dots,

Fabric 3: 2/3 yards (pink in image above)

The Quilted Fish Fabric – Apple of My Eye, Apple Basket Blue

Fabric 4: 2/3 yards (leaf in image above)

Millie’s Closet Riley Blake Designer Cloth Patchwork

Fabric 5:  2/3 yards (multi colored in image above)

Yes – I combined fabrics 4 & 5.AGAIN.

Fabric 6: 1 yard (Daisy Janie Grey Print)

J’Adore Paris Sunburst Stripe Pink by Dear Stella

Fabric 7 – Background: 2 yard cut (solid)

J’Adore Stella Fabric Eiffel Tower Paris Town , Blue

I never decide on borders and bindings until my quilt is pieced so I’m not going to tell you what to use right now.  I would order a bit extra of the fabrics and then you can usually come up with a border from that.

For this mix I started with the J’Adore Stella Eiffel Tower Fabric.  It was the first one that caught my eye and I thought it would make a wonderful ‘background.’  The patchwork look from the Millie’s Closet fabric is sure to create a great, unique look in the stripes and triangles of the piece.  Then, blending the ‘weaves’ in blues and pinks will help bring this entire look together.

This little ‘virtual shopping’ blogging project of mine has been really quite fun!  I have at least one more shop I’m going to do some shopping at before I finally pick the fabrics I’m actually going to use for my own Intertwined Quilt!

Ok, I really love the idea of using a print for your background fabric. It really would pull the quilt together so nicely! Now when do we get to see your "FINAL" picks?!?
