Marcia’s Crafty Sewing and Quilting
Boscobel, Wisconsin My "Keep On Dreaming" quilt is based on a musical inspiration for the Project Quilting Challenge Number Two. Keep On Dreaming is my brother’s song and I posted the song on Tuesday. When I first listened to the song I said to him, "That would be a great song to quilt!" — I wasn’t exactly sure what I meant… I guess it was the way the song flowed. I love to sing it while I am quilting. I stitched some words from the lyrics – Keep on Dreaming in the white squares. I was planning to place the stars exactly in the center of the hearts, but as I placed them on the hearts they looked so cool off center. Long wavy stitching lines on the center blue area. I wiggle line stitched on the hearts and stitched swirls in the background of the star fabric.
Measures 24" X 36 inches

marciascraftysewing.blogspot.com/ Keep On Dreaming by Mark Nordeen Somehow we all are part of a greater love.
And somehow we are made from the stars above.
And somehow that star inside will shine through the gray.
And light up the dream of a new day.
———-
I’m one lonely star in the sky, shining my light.
———-
I’ll keep on dreaming of a new day on the earth.
I’ll keep on dreaming of a new day on the earth.
I’m just one voice and I will be heard.
———-
Someday we’ll see the light when clouds recede.
Someday we will learn to serve and not defeat.
Someday we’ll find a way to give up the hate.
And bring back the love before it’s too late.
———-
Will I be seen in the sky, shining my light?
———-
I’ll keep on dreaming of a new day on the earth.
I’ll keep on dreaming of a new day on the earth.
I’m just one voice and I will be heard.
———-
When I shine in the dark will you see me?
When I call out for you will you hear?
———-
I’ll keep on dreaming of a new day on the earth.
I’ll keep on dreaming of a new day on the earth.
I’m just one voice and I will be heard.

“Sunshine on my Shoulders”
Inspirational Song: Sunshine on my Shoulders
"Sunshine on my Shoulders" (makes me happy). Of course! It’s late January, and golden sunshine is a rare pleasure here in Ohio. I’ve got this piece hanging on just enough space between two windows to remind me of what looking out a window could be like on a good day!
So I guess that tells you where this piece was made: Ohio. Specifically, Westerville. Size: 18" x 30", depending on which edges you measure. 🙂

Inspirational Song: “Wheels on the Bus”
A mom-and-tot rendition of "Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round" got stuck in my head after a recent clinic visit – I thought my brain was going to explode! About 14" X 14". From Bismarck, ND.

Modern Cowboy (Tesla)
Inspirational Song: “Modern Cowboy” by Tesla
Jennifer Rodriguez of All Things Belle
in West Jordan, Utah
(allthingsbelle.blogspot.com) 32"x 16" I loved, loved this challenge. I instantly knew that I wanted to utilize this challenge to create an art quilt that I’ve had in my mind for the last 6 months. The song " Modern Cowboy" by Tesla was my inspiration.. and of course my modern cowboy husband. I’m sure 10 years ago my husband did not think this would be his life. A cowboy without a horse, living in Utah, with two adorable little cowgirls. But I’m confident though this isn’t the rugged life he imagined, he couldn’t be any happier. It is another mixed media project. The background of wood & steel is all paint on muslin and thread painted with details. The boots are fabric, raw edge appliqué (using the starch method again). They are heavily fabric painted and then thread painted as well. This is a Valentine gift to my cowboy and my two adorable cowgirls.. Blog post coming soon..

Cheeseburger in Paradise
Song Inspiration: “Cheeseburger in Paradise” by Jimmy Buffet
I’m Becky from Pendleton, Oregon. Here’s my Project Quilting second quilt. The theme is "Song Title". When I saw the theme Sunday, I immediately thought of Jimmy Buffet’s "Cheeseburger in Paradise". My husband is a huge Jimmy Buffet fan (parrot-head). We probably have every CD he’s ever come out with, and they get played regularly, although there are a few that got somewhat "censored" when our kids came along. It also occurred to me that while I have been making relatives fabric birthday cards since this Spring, I never made my husband one for his December birthday. So this one’s for him! It’s only 7 1/2 by 10 inches, making it a very small quilt.

You’re My Home
Inspirational Song: “You’re My Home” by Billy Joel
"You’re my Home"
Created in Irmo, SC
12" x 10" I was inspired by the song "You’re My Home" by Billy Joel. I was struggling trying to decide on a song to use, and my iPod was on shuffle, and whammo…Billy Joel came on and I was inspired! I love the lyrics and the overall idea that no matter what, where ever my love is, that is where my home is. I created this piece to hang in my office at work, it’s a very rough depiction of our house here in Irmo. I originally intended to print one of my favorite pics of my hubby and kiddo on fabric and incorporate it into the house, but I was unable to locate any of my printing supplies for the fabric. So I ended up printing one picture about 2×3 and then trimming down to "fit" in the bottom window. And I decided to attach the picture with velcro, this way I can change out the picture from time to time! The "shrubs" are a scrap of ribbon from Tim Holtz idea-ology and the "tree" is by Prima (both from my scrapbooking stash). I spent $0 to create this piece, all fabric was from my stash, a mix of Bella and Kona solids, the sky a leftover bit from Giddy by Sandy Gervais. blogged here: quiltadaisy.blogspot.com/2012/01/project-quilting-s3-chal… Earlier Closer Looks:
