Yeah! It’s time for the sixth block of the Home Sweet Home Quilt Along. After today’s tutorial we should all have at least 6 blocks (unless you decided to make doubles of some…) and it even worked out that we have three houses and three trees! What fun! Before I get to today’s block I would like to introduce you to the designer: Emma Thomas-McGinnis of Quilties! Etsy: http://www.quilties.etsy.com

email: emma {at} quilties {dot} com What is your crafting style? My style is eclectic, I like a wide variety of styles and projects…quilting, embroidery, tatting, origami, crafts I can do with my kids, sewing soft toys, clothes or bags…gosh, I just love arts and crafts of all kinds. My quilting style is pretty scrappy, sometimes modern, using interesting techniques like paint or folded fabric. I don’t like making anything the same very many times, so I don’t make many big quilts. And I really love hand work…embroidery or hand sewing pieces like yo yos & epp. I try to add some embroidery to anything that I plan to sell in my quilties etsy shop, just to make it feel special. How did you get started creating? It’s in my family. My dad is an artist, my mom a crafter and quilter like me. I grew up in a house full of art supplies and with a library of craft books, so I’ve just ALWAYS created! Do you have a favorite piece? Why is it your favorite? Well, this one comes to mind because it hangs in a sunny corner in my favorite room, my studio. So when I see it I’m usually very happy! What is your favorite crafty blog to follow/read? Pleasant Home. In fact, the technique I used in my tree block was learned from her cute little mug rugs in a recent post: http://www.pleasant-home.com/2012/01/scrappy-mug-mat-tutorial.html Favorite Adhesive: I love Tacky Glue, I think it works the best for all kinds of stuff…but I think it’s funny my kids won’t use it because they say it takes too long to dry. They would tape together a quilt if they were quilters. Tape is just so fast! Beverage of Choice: My two favorite beverages are Iced Tea and Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice, how’s that two ends of the spectrum! Sweet or Salty? I have a sweet tooth you wouldn’t believe! I really love chocolate, but I also frequently have cravings for those really sugary kid’s candies like Runts, Fun Dip and Gobstoppers! And now that you’ve learned some fun tidbits about today’s block designer it’s time to share your sixth block:

Kim, I came up with a house block for one of the fill-in slots. What do you think? Do you hate it?

Oh, I LOVE this block too! I haven't started making any of these yet, but I'm saving all the patterns and PLAN to make it! had really hoped to do it along with everyone, but we're in the midst of painting, re-decorating, re-organizing…you get the idea 🙂
