My Quiltsy team has been patiently waiting for me to show pictures from my adventure to the International Quilt Festival in Chicago that I went to on Friday. We had to be on the bus bright and early at 6:45. It’s been a while since I’ve had an early ‘be-there’ time but it actually went pretty smoothly for me – it helped that I was very excited. Now…here are some pictures from the show… I would like to do a quick shout out to Rose Mary Huber Pauls who organized the entire journey that included sewn name tags, two snack bags (one for the way there and another on the way back), beverages (non-alcoholic but you can’t get everything…) and door prizes. She did a great job and we didn’t loose anyone! Diane was my travel companion. The following three quilts you will see were made by my Aunt-in-law, Barb, from QuiltsbyBarb. A Wholecloth Sampler Card of a Different ColorKatrina’s Log Cabin If you would like to take a class from this talented quilter you can sign up for the 2010 Quilt Retreat being held in Belmont, WI, November 12th, 13th and 14th, 2010. The quilt above is the one that continually caught my eye – the colors, the shape, the way everything flows just intrigues me. It was made to represent the Australian Bush Fires. 3-D And of course we had to head over to the trade show portion of the festival. I had a lot of fun trying out a bunch of different mid-arm machines. It is definitely one of my dreams to do my own quilting (at least on the smaller quilts – I will still send my bigger quilts to Barb). Below, is the very first feather I have quilted. The demo feather is the higher one and mine is the bottom one. I have to admit – I’m pretty proud of my feather… We were sad to find out that this is the last time the show will be held in Chicago – it’s heading to Cincinnati, Ohio now. So, it was my first and last experience at the International Quilt Festival. I’ll just have to find other shows…
