Batik’s Around the Nation Lap Size Quilt

October 12, 2009 by persimondreams 18 Comments

040 If you love batik’s you’re going to love this quilt.  If you have no idea what batik’s are but you love color and beautiful designs…you will love this quilt.  Using the 5” batik squares I received from Team Quiltsy’s block exchange, I have created this beautiful quilt.   The segmented black and batik border really helps to frame the batik’s charm set on point.  A stunning multi-color, blended fabric was used for the back of the quilt.  046My aunt-in-law, Barb, from www.quiltsbybarb.etsy.com used her long-arm quilting machine to do this beautiful quilting design for this quilt.  038 With the patterns, colors, and detail in quilting, one can spend hours finding new and beautiful things about this blanket.  Perfect for a throw over the back of a couch or to curl up in for a movie or a great book.  Approximate dimensions:  58” x 61”     044 This is the quilt I’m entering in the Park City Girl Fall Quilt Festival.  Click HERE to see other fabulous entries!

I'm not a big lover of batiks but I think this is very dramatic. I love the fabric you used for the back.

Very beautiful! Love the almost amish feel to it, with the colors being set on the black. I haven't yet used mine from the swap. Hoping to get the fabric to set them/back them this weekend! Can't wait, I know what I'm doing–just have to do it!

What a gorgeous quilt- I do so love batiks set on a dark background. Batiks have such rich colors – I have a nice stash collection of batiks and have begun to make quilts with them.
    Thanks so much for sharing.
    Warmest regards,
    Anna
