Happy April 1st everyone! I don’t have any great “fool” ideas for you but I do have something to share with you today. That little something is a couple of blocks for the 3rd month of the Fat Quarter Shop’s “Bella Skill Builder”. I’d actually never traditionally pieced a pineapple block before! I know! Crazy! I’ve paper pieced a few but I don’t think that’s the same thing at all. I’m SO HAPPY that the Fat Quarter Shop required us designers to use all bella solids for this quilt. I would never have chosen all solids on my own – but man – this is going to be an epic quilt that even I can’t believe how great the blocks are looking! I used the Creative Grids Pineapple Trim Tool for piecing this block. It was truly a game changer! It made things so much easier. I would highly recommend this ruler if you ever plan on making pineapple blocks! I’ve said this so many times before but I LOVE samplers because of all the different methods and techniques it encourages me to use! The Pineapple Trim Tool was definitely a win that will be added to my “go-to” list! I still have three more pineapple blocks to make this month! Watch my instagram feed to see how these progress! I loosely laid out the blocks I have made where they will be in the final quilt. I’m really happy I did that because it helps show me that I’m going to need some more blue on the left side and perhaps some darker colors in the bottom right. I’ll keep doing this as I get more and more blocks made to help maintain balance even in all the scrappiness. For good measure, I had to share with you all the blocks I have finished so far. I’m seriously falling more and more in love with solids with each block I make! (This is something I never thought I’d say!) Head on over to the Jolly Jabber to see what other bloggers and quilters are doing with their Bella Sampler Quilts! It’s so fun to see all the different versions!
