Last night I packed up all the quilts I still have in my possession – yes – there are SIX suitcases full there!
I headed to Middleton, WI today to talk to the Mad City Quilt Guild.
Here are my quilts all piled on the table in chronological order so I can take people on my journey from the start to the present.
I just couldn’t resist a #selfie before the talk with my mic on! I’ll admit – I absolutely LOVE public speaking but I do get a bit nervous before it begins.
My talk is titled: Wildly Careening Into Quilts: What I learned by not knowing what I didn’t know.’
And the description of my talk, written by Trish Frankland is:
Take a wild ride as Kim Lapacek recounts the journey from her first quilt to the present. Through the years many of Kim’s quilts have been inspired by challenges, which helped tease out her true quilting style – an “oddly beautiful” display of color, motion, and texture. You will see traditional quilts created quite untraditionally, sampler quilts with a twist, and a wide variety of art quilts.
Everyone at the talk was just wonderful with many kind words to say to me at the end. The questions were great! My favorite was when someone asked me ‘Why don’t you design fabric?’ and my response was, “I’d love too! I just need to figure out who to contact about that!”
Another member left me a comment on facebook that made my night!
You were a breath of fresh air. Enjoyed your presentation.
