I’m so excited to have a guest blogger share with you the next block in the 52 Blocks Twisted Tradition Quilt Along! It’s a fabulous block…I made it yesterday…and I’m sure you’ll all want to make more than one!
Before we get to her block I want to introduce you to today’s designer, Carla Henton of Dodge City, Kansas, and share with you a little bit more about her.
Carla blogs at Creatin’ in the Sticks. You can find her on her blog and she’s also now on facebook! I first met Carla because she’s a regular participant on Project QUILTING and has come up with some really amazing pieces over the challenges!
What is your favorite thing about Quilt Alongs?
Knowledge gained! We can learn so much form each other and can gather great ideas about design, color, and construction. I’ve met some pretty wonderful friends with quilt alongs, too.
What type of quilter do you consider yourself – traditional, modern, contemporary, other…?
I really do love all types, but I’d call myself a contemporary tradionalist. My sewing experience started with my grandmother and I hold so much traditional knowledge from her, but she liked to tweak things to freshen them up a bit and I guess that is what I like to do. Breathe new ideas into traditional ways.

What other quilt alongs are you participating in in 2014?
Right now, 52 Blocks is the only one and I am behind in it. This year has been the year of blog hops for me. Between blog hop and client obligations, I’ve let myself get behind.
Apples or oranges?
Apples with a little peanut butter, please. 🙂
Favorite Book:
I just finished “Doctor Sleep” by Stephen King. I have a long commute to work, so I listen to audio books. I really can’t think of a favorite book, but my favorite authors are Stephen King and Anne Rice.
Carla is going to twist the traditional Maple Leaf Block for us this week and we’ll be making the ‘Flying Leaf’.
Head on over to Carla’s blog NOW to see how you can make your very own ‘Flying Leaf’ Block!
This is the ‘Flying Leaf’ block I made today! So so so in love with this block!!!!
I can’t wait to see what all your blocks look like! Be sure to share you blocks and any projects you make using your blocks onto our flickr group: 52 Blocks Quilt Along
