REDUCED PRICE! Still plenty of time to sign up! Now just $350 for an all inclusive luxury quilting weekend full of inspiration!
What!? A Project QUILTING RETREAT!?!!!!!
Yes! This Project QUILTING retreat has been my dream right from the start.
When I dreamed up Project QUILTING in 2009, I secretly hoped that someday we could do a true ‘Project RUNWAY’ challenge. Now, with help from some great friends and wonderful sponsors, I’m
finally able to introduce the PQ4Me weekend!
This luxury, 3-day (2 night), all-inclusive retreat will bring Project QUILTING challengers to West Central Wisconsin and the gorgeous Woodland Ridge Retreat Center.
When!?
January 16th – 18th, 2015, optional arrival on January 15th for a small additional fee.
I promise it will be a weekend you’ll never forget: new friendships, comfy beds, time to enjoy uninterrupted creativity, great food, an exclusive Project QUILTING challenge, sparkling wintery sights (enjoyed from toasty radiant-heated floors), and much more fun.
Unfortunately, either due to the event cost or the timing of the event we haven’t gotten very many folks to actually commit to the retreat. Because of this, we have had to cancel Ebony Love as our quilter in residence. Trish Frankland and I (Kim Lapacek) still really want to have a challenge weekend though so if you want to join us for a weekend of quilting we would still love to have you! The price has been reduced (from $500 for the weekend to $350). There will still be a Project QUILTING challenge given at the beginning of the weekend but now Trish and I will be sharing with you some fun little tutorials on techniques you can do to use on your challenge pieces!!
I’ve gotten to know many of you online through the years, and I’m excited to have real face time with YOU as we create, imbibe, and enjoy a long weekend together.
~Kim
About Woodland Ridge Retreat Center
Woodland Ridge Retreat is an idyllic creative getaway located in the rural West This facility is on one level with ADA accessible accommodations. Each boutique hotel-style guest room sleeps three to four people, with each guest in their own plush double-size bed with luxurious bedding. Each room features a large whirlpool tub and a separate shower.
When you decide to sew, you’ll enjoy the accommodations in one of two sewing rooms. Solid work surface, adjustable tables, Ott lights and (most importantly!) comfortable chairs are provided. You’ll have plenty of time to work on new and old projects during the weekend.
Central Wisconsin village of Downsville. The property overlooks the scenic Red Cedar River valley.
PQ4Me Challenge
We have some incredible sponsors lined up already that will be donating fabric for the challenges. We do recommend that you bring along at least 3 fat quarters that you might want to use for your piece. As we get closer to the retreat date I will email you out more information that you’ll need to know for the actual challenge. You will not find out what the entire challenge is though until you arrive – we’re going for true ‘Project QUILTING’ style.
We will have a ‘mini fabric’ store at the retreat center with hand-dyed fabrics and batting. There are also some fabulous quilt shops not too far from the retreat that would make for a perfect little outing.

Further Information:
Do I have to do the PQ4Me challenge?
No! As always, the Project QUILTING challenge is just for fun. If you have other projects you want to work on or the challenge doesn’t speak to you creatively, you’re welcome to follow your muse.
How soon can I arrive?
Both check-in and checkout are at 1 pm.
What’s the closest airport?
St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in Minnesota. Let us know when you register that you’ll be flying, and we can help arrange free airport pickup and return. There will be one time on Friday morning we will pick up and one return on Sunday morning. Once we know how many folks need the shuttle we’ll work out a time that works for everyone.
Would Amtrak be an option?
Definitely! The ‘Empire Line‘ runs through Wisconsin and stops in places like Columbus, Portage, Wisconsin Dells, Tomah and LaCrosse. Depending on who all signs up there may be some Wisconsinites willing to pick you up and carpool you to the retreat center. A different option would be to go to the Red Wing, MN stop and we can arrange a free pickup and return (about an hour to the retreat center). Let us know what you’re thinking and we’ll work with you to make it happen!
What if I have to cancel?
Only $25 is non-refundable prior to January 1, 2015. After that, no refunds will be issued.

I am so sad I am just finding out about this today or I would absolutely have joined. I've always wanted to do a quilt retreat but a week's notice won't do for me or my job 🙁 I hope you have a chance to set one up again
