Yes! This is the fifth and final closer look at projects from the Project QUILTING Challenge – String Along with Me. So, what are your thoughts so far? Are you all as truly amaze and in awe as I am. I have wanted one of these little bulletin board things for a while. And it hit me at work one day that perhaps this string challenge would be the perfect small project to start with. My three layers include my pieced top, batting and Styrofoam. Another first for me is that I machine quilted this NOT stitch in the ditch. There will be no close up pictures of that as it looks like Dookie. It was fun creating and working on a schedule. I’m enjoying the group so far.

For Project Quilting Season 5 "String Along with Me"
Every part of the quilt (except the backing) is made from 2.5" scraps (or smaller). Smallish strips of blue to green form the background which I quilted prior to adding the applique. The blue sky is quilted with horizontal wavy lines. The green is quilted vertically to suggest tall grass. The raw edge fusible applique was laid out entirely, then fused and then quilted for dimension. Next time I might attach a bit, quilt, attach a bit, quilt, etc. I learn something every time I do one of these challenges! This one was a lot of fun and I kept hearing music as I worked 😉

Who Says I have to be Black and White?
I guess the story is that I love to make baby quilt, the brighter the better. I saw these zebras on Pinterest, it was a project for 1st graders. I made this for the grandbaby of a friend and used only fabrics from my stash. I named the quilt "Who says I have to be black and white?"

String Sunset
jen sews from ellicott co and this is "string sunset" This quilt is finished. It is meant to hang in a window for a stained glass effect. It is strings and it is pieced. I have it hanging in my dining room window!

Snail Trail
Here is my entry for Project Quilting Season 5 Challenge 1. It is called Snail Trail. It is roughly 47 inches square and made entirely out of scraps from the string bucket and some white quilter’s cotton. It was made near St Louis, MO. She did a fantastic job! I started with a pretty standard string quilt background, then added really skinny strings to make applique daisies. Buttons were used to make the flower center. Finished size 20" x 22".
I create in Poynette, WI, although this project was finished at Woodland Ridge Retreat in Downsville, WI.
