I really do go in spurts with these Sashing Tutorials…sorry about that. Trust me – I want to have them finished as much as you do! I’m remembering now that a 14 month old demands A LOT of attention! For some reason I had forgotten that about my first two. Oh well – I’m getting there – just 17 tutorials left to share! Well over half way there.
Steps Sashing
A tutorial for the Home Sweet Home Quilt Along
Cutting Instructions:
Fabric 1 (pink):
1 – 1.5” x 12.5”
1 – 6.5” x 1.5”
1 – 3.5” x 1.5”
Fabric 2 (green)
2 – 5” x 1.5”
Construction Instructions:
Arrange your fabrics like shown in the picture above.
Sew the short ends of the strips together and iron toward the darker fabric.
Sew all three long strips together to make a 3.5” x 12.5” sashing block.
In the picture above ‘Steps’ is shown above the ‘Acid Cottage’ BONUS Block along with the HST Sashings.
In the final layout I put my ‘steps’ sashing below my Crazee Patch House Bonus Block. I did this on purpose because the same green fabrics are in both and it sort of ‘blends’ down and makes it look like my sashing is ‘front steps’ to the crazee house. I really love how this worked out with some of my sashings…it added a lot to the final look and causes you to look even closer to things. I’ve said it before…every time I look at my pieced quilt I see something new…
