I am so far behind on posting these sashing tutorials for the Home Sweet Home Quilt Along that I figure I had better just keep working on them while I’m in the mood.
I’m going to be doing a two for one sashing tutorial in this post since they are so similar – but don’t worry – the sashings aren’t exactly the same – I wouldn’t do that to you!
3. Stepping Strips Sashing Tutorial
Material:
4 – 6.5” x 1.5” strips
4 – 3.5” x 1.5” strips
(I used all different fabrics for each of these – really increasing the ‘scrappy appeal’ to my sashings)
Directions:
Sew two of the shorter strips to either end of the one of the longer strips. Do this twice.
Sew the remaining two longer strips together.
With the two longer strips in the middle sew the the first two strips you created to either side to create a 3.5” x 12.5” sashing.
49. Stepping Strips Sashing Tutorial 2
This is almost the same as Stepping Strips with just minor modifications.
Material:
6 – 6.5” x 1.5” strip
2 – 3.5” x 1.5” strips
again – I used all different fabrics
Directions
Sew two of the shorter strips to either end of one of the longer strips.
Sew the remaining two longer strips together. Do this twice.
With the longer strip sandwiched between the shorter strips in the middles sew the second two strips you created to either side to create a 3.5” 12.5” sashing.
I think after this we are definitely over half way done with the sashing tutorials for the Home Sweet Home Quilt Along!
