I’ll admit – I was a bit stumped at first when I saw the Project QUILTING 16.1 Mythical Creatures Challenge. I do LOVE mythical creatures but what quilt would I make of them? I needed to do some thinking, searching, and of course, dreaming to find my inspiration.
I did a fun little round up for some inspiration that I found for the challenge that I thought I’d share in case you need it!
- Land of Magic Mermaid Pattern (#ad) by Kid Giddy
- Tentacles Quilt Block (#ad) by Quilt and Dagger Design
- Legends of the National Parks Fabric from Blue Bar Quilts
- Hydra Quilt Pattern (#ad) by Slice of Pi Quilts
- Alien, UFO and Bigfoot Longarm Quilting Digital Pantograph used in E2E (Edge to Edge) Quilting Design (#ad) by Oh Sew Kute
- Mythical Wieners Pattern (#ad) by Art East Quilt Company
BTW – I’m pretty sure I know now what I’m going to be doing this week! This little search worked!

I originally found the Rainbow Crow in DK book Mythical Beasts and Magical creatures, when Inws hunting for a Phoenix drawing. The Lenape story ends by saying “The fire had burned and blackened its colored feathers, and its song was no longer beautiful, but dry and crackly. Even so, the Rainbow Crow never regretted its sacrifice, because its actions had saved all the animals, and there was nothing more important than that. “.
