Gypsy Wife Quilt–Scrappy Quilt Entry

May 15, 2015 by persimondreams 7 Comments

AmysCreativeSide.comAnd for my second quilt entry to the Blogger’s Quilt Festival I’ve decided to go with my Gypsy Wife Quilt in the Scrappy Quilt Category.  A good friend of mine actually sent me this pattern for my birthday and it wasn’t long after that I got started on it.

I made this scrappy quilt from Jen Kingwell’s pattern ‘Gypsy Wife’.  It’s one of those patterns that I didn’t have to change a thing to make it fit my style … it’s me to a tee!  Jen encourages you to use lots of different fabrics – check!  There’s also a lot of different blocks put together to make one cohesive quilt – check!  It’s basically a sampler put together in a unique way – check again!

Once I was finished piecing this quilt I sent it to my aunt in law, Barb Raisbeck of Quilts by Barb 2014 to quilt.  She did a fabulous wonky straight line quilting over the whole piece – it’s perfect!

I finished this quilt up at the end of 2014.

I’ve since put it in a couple of quilt shows and so far it’s taken a 1st place at the Sun Prairie Heritage Quilt Show and Second Place at Monroe’s Threaded Memories quilt show.  It’s been fun showing it off to folks all about and I’ve heard that it’s inspiring folks to give the pattern a try!

If you loe this quilt please head over to HERE and nominate it for the Viewer’s Choice contest!

Voting in each category will begin on May 22nd.

Oh, it's great. I have looked at this pattern before and was frightened off, but it looks like it's worth the effort! Love the colours and its general all around happy look.
