Anyone else bummed that this is the last month of the ‘Lovely Year of Finishes’? I’m secretly hoping Melissa and Shanna decide to keep it going in 2014…who’s with me? This whole monthly goal setting thing has been really good for my productivity levels and yes – actually FINISHING some things!
This is the first year I don’t have ANY craft/holiday shows that I’m vending at in December. It feels weird…but a good weird. People have asked what I’m going to do with myself. Easy! I’m going to enjoy the holiday’s with my kiddo’s instead of frantically trying to sew up and bead as much product as possible!
The Goal. I have just one goal for this month. My Christmas tradition of spending the day with my dad’s family has been cancelled leaving me devastated. I love tradition and am not very good when things change. But I finally realized the only way to not have my entire holiday ruined was to come up with some really cool things to do with my family and make new traditions. My eldest, Cedi (just turned 7 on Friday) decided we should all draw names from a hat and make that family member a gift for Christmas. We didn’t make this ‘secret’ because Jared and I needed to know who Pip had since she may need our assistance…
The list is as follows:
- Papa is making something for Pip
- Mama is making something for Capri
- Mercedi is making something for Mama
- Capri is making something for Papa
- and Pip is making something for Mercedi
I think I have an idea of what I want to make for Capri and I’m guessing I’m going to have to give Pip a hand with Mercedi’s gift…
So that is my one main ‘finish it goal’ this month – make a gift for Capri. I’m sure I’ll be doing other things here and there but I really want to focus on making the holiday’s special for my family this year.
Here are the girls in front of our 17-foot tall Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. There’s even a stuffed snake on top!
What are your goals for December?
I got this awesome snap shot of Pip while we were cutting down our Christmas tree this year. I had fun making a collage using different photo effects. Which effect is your favorite?

Sounds like a wonderful holiday tradition in the making. We are starting a new holiday tradition in our house of Anne going present shopping to donate to a child who doesn't have any gifts for Christmas. She is very excited!

Your goal is the best one I've seen. They are only little a very short time, and then it will be too late. I thought, at first, that your tree was garland wrapped around a spiral staircase. =) I love that tree. That's the kind of tree we had when my children were little – Charlie Brown. =)

What a great tradition. I love your tree and how it doesn't have the 'traditional' look of being even and perfect. I also love the double wedding ring wall hanging.
